As Head of Finance roles in the legal sector go, this opportunity represents something unique.

The firm compete against the top tier law firms. Their work is complex, high value and often multi-jurisdictional. They also attract staff from the top tier – both from a fee earning perspective and across business services. It’s a high quality business, with ambitious growth ahead and three offices across Europe, with London being the headquarters.

But…  they’re a boutique specialist. Overall headcount is approx. 100. This role therefore has the ‘feel’, client base and standards of a larger City law firm, but with the variety and flexibility of a smaller firm.

They’re also a relatively new entrant to the market and with that comes opportunity. They’ve had rapid year on year growth since inception, with the intention to continue on this trajectory and this role will allow you to be part of that. They have a generous profit share scheme for all employees, which helps to facilitate real collaboration and shared reward for the success of the business.

A key factor in helping the firm to realise its growth potential is the ongoing development and evolution of their business services functions, with this role focused on developing the finance function in to a proactive, client-focussed, high performing team. They’ve recently appointed a CFO and are now looking to identify a Head of Finance who enjoys a hands-on role to help manage, grow and develop their finance team of 5.

They’re about to embark on a systems implementation project and are eager to identify an individual with change/project management experience in developing processes and systems. You’ll also hold financial controllership responsibilities and be able to keep your accounting tools sharp: managing the firm’s annual statutory accounts audit, supporting the Head Cashier with the SRA audit, provision of reporting, analysis and budget preparation and more. If you don’t enjoy being hands-on, this isn’t a role for you.

Shortlisted applicants will need to hold an accountancy qualification, with post-qualification experience gained within a professional services firm.

If you’d like to be considered for this opportunity, please either apply today, or contact Richard Hooper at Balance Recruitment for an informal chat to find out more and to discuss your suitability. Don’t worry if you’ve yet to update your CV. We can help with that.
