Are you a Financial Controller or Finance Manager with three to five years of senior finance and management experience within a law firm? With a reputation for excellence in the Sussex, Berkshire, Surrey and Kent regions and ambitious plans for the future, they have a network of offices across southern England and approximately 90 staff. As such, they now require a full-time, permanent Financial Controller with the experience to handle a mixture of accounting, human resources, and practice administration duties needed to help the firm continue to grow and realise the management team's ambitions.
You will be reporting to the CFO when working to ensure the maximum profitability of the firm. Cash flow, expenditure, performance, forecasts/projections, compliance and month and year-end procedures will all be part of your finance and account focus, including managing a team of five. HR-related tasks will include payroll, appraisals, inductions, monitoring performance and training and development. You'll also be involved in a wide variety of other duties, providing excellent exposure to the firm's operations.
The successful applicant will be excited by the prospect of working within an ambitious enterprise with plans for future growth. Previous management experience is essential, with applicants expected to have experience of reporting to senior members of a partnership whilst acting as a conduit of communication when channelling information from above to the broader practice team with the ability to influence, innovate, and implement change where necessary.
Whilst they are flexible about your location due to the hybrid nature of the position, candidates commuting from the Kent or Sussex areas are highly desirable. You will also be able to choose which office you work from according to your location and convenience. However, occasional travel to and from the Haywards Heath and/or Uckfield areas will be required.
