A leading law firm is looking to hire a Revenue Controller to join a close knit team of five within the finance function.
This is a hands on role covering the full revenue cycle across WIP management, billing and credit control, with a clear focus on keeping lock up healthy, hitting monthly billing and collections targets, and resolving queries quickly and professionally.
You will work closely with designated practice groups, meeting Partners and fee earners each month to review WIP and aged debt, agree actions, and keep matters moving.
The role is a blend of commercial judgement and process discipline. You will maintain accurate records in the credit control system, use the diary function properly, and follow up outstanding invoices in line with collections policy, escalating potential issues early when risk starts to build.
Billing is a core part of the job. You will post invoices accurately and on time, ensuring VAT treatment is correct and activity remains compliant with the SRA Accounts Rules.
You will handle matter maintenance such as WIP transfers, write offs and amendments to client and matter details, prepare client statements and reconciliations, process card payments, and respond confidently to billing, VAT and debt queries from both internal stakeholders and external clients.
What they’re looking for
This role suits someone with revenue control, billing or credit control experience within professional services, ideally a law firm.
You will have strong working knowledge of VAT and the SRA Accounts Rules, be confident using a legal finance system such as Aderant or similar, and bring a commercial, service led approach.
You will be highly organised, accurate, calm under pressure, and comfortable managing competing deadlines with limited supervision while still working as an active team member.
Working pattern
Full time, Monday to Friday - Two days in office min.
Hours 9:30 to 5:30, with flexibility when required and flexible applications considered.
If you enjoy stakeholder led revenue work where you can take ownership, bring structure, and make a visible impact on billing and cash, this is a strong opportunity.
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, experiences and characteristics.
If you require any adjustments or additional support at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know.
