Three days per week | Six-month contract | London

Let’s deal with the practicalities first. This is a part-time position working three days per week, with those days expected to be spent in the London office from Tuesday to Thursday.

The initial contract will be for six months. There is genuine hope that the position could become permanent, although that cannot be guaranteed at this stage.

Joining the finance team of a leading international law firm, you will support the monthly payroll for approximately 350 employees while gaining exposure to payroll processes across several European offices.

Much of the role involves maintaining accurate and consistent payroll records. You will collate and check monthly changes, process new starters and leavers, reconcile overtime and deductions, submit information to external payroll providers and review the completed payroll outputs for discrepancies.

You will also respond to employee queries, issue payroll documentation, process benefit and payroll-related invoices and assist with monthly payroll journals. It is an administration-heavy position, so it will particularly suit someone who enjoys routine, predictability and the satisfaction of keeping a detailed process running properly.

You will need around two to three years’ payroll experience and your experience does not need to have been gained within a law firm or professional-services environment, and UK payroll experience will be sufficient. Existing European payroll experience would be useful but is not required.

The Payroll Manager is approachable and happy to provide training. Alongside learning about multi-country payroll, there may also be an opportunity to become involved in a future payroll-systems project.

The successful candidate will be accurate, hardworking and comfortable managing repetitive monthly processes without allowing standards to slip. Just as importantly, they will be personable, enthusiastic and keen to learn.

This could also be a good opportunity for an experienced payroll professional returning to work who wants a structured three-day week and the chance to rebuild their career within a supportive international environment.
