Are you a part qualified accountant looking to build your career within a genuinely supportive, international finance function? A well established international law firm is looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join its London Finance team on a permanent basis.
The Role
Reporting to the London Finance Manager, you will support the head office finance team across the full management accounting cycle, working closely with department heads and senior finance personnel, while being given genuine study support towards a professional accounting qualification.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of the London office's monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, bad debt provisions, the fixed asset register and interest and loan schedules.
- Review and analysis of the monthly London P&L report, including commentary.
- Liaising with the Accounts Payable team on correct coding of purchase invoices and expenses, and transfers between general ledger accounts.
- Preparation of departmental management accounts packs and liaising with department heads on expenditure versus budget.
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Providing ad hoc analysis and reporting on general ledger transactions as requested by department heads and senior finance staff.
- Liaising with external auditors during the annual audit process.
- Approving and signing off the monthly payment run, checking coding, posting and approvals.
- Reviewing and processing recharges and inter-office debit notes for international offices.
- Assisting with preparation of the UK quarterly VAT return.
- Attending budget meetings with Business Services Heads and finance leadership, updating budget schedules and supporting the annual budget process.
- Preparation of monthly and annual national statistics questionnaires.
- Any other ad hoc duties as required.
We are looking for someone with:
- A Levels or AAT (or equivalent) and a degree, with study towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA or similar).
- At least two years' experience working in finance within the legal sector, professional services, or audit.
- Strong general ledger experience.
- Experience with a practice management system such as Elite 3E is an advantage.
- Enthusiastic, self motivated and a strong relationship builder, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise conflicting demands.
- High level of attention to detail with a questioning mindset and a desire to add value.
