Finance & Commercial Director

Hi, I'm Kath, Finance & Commercial Director at Balance.

Originally from Australia, I'm one of those backpackers who came to the UK and never went home. I began my recruitment career in 2000 with Robert Walters, before later working alongside Richard. Together, we went on to create Balance.

Throughout my career, I've been responsible for the non-sales functions of the business, with a particular focus on finance, commercial strategy and operational performance. I've worked in finance for more than 35 years and have spent over 25 years in the recruitment industry.

Alongside my role at Balance, I'm passionate about championing female leadership within recruitment and being a voice for the often-unsung back-office teams that play such a vital role in business success. I strongly believe in supporting female entrepreneurship and was recognised as one of the UK's most impressive female entrepreneurs in 2025. I'm also part of the Female Entrepreneurship Network, created by Small Business Britain.

I'm a member of Women in Recruitment Leadership (WIRL), where female leaders across the industry come together to collaborate, support and encourage one another. Mentoring is another area I'm passionate about, and for several years I've been helping professionals develop their careers, strengthen their confidence and find their voice at leadership level. I was honoured to win Best Businesswoman in Recruitment in 2022 and now support the awards process as a judge, helping to recognise and celebrate the achievements of other women in business.

Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my blended family and our Cavachon, Milo. Home is in Hertfordshire, where I enjoy the balance of countryside living with easy access to London. Having never lost the travel bug, I also make time to explore new places, whether that's solo or with the whole family.
